Once upon a time in a remote corner of the blogosphere, somewhere betwixt the changing of the hours and the falling of the leaves, as the Halloween pumpkins lay wasting on the front porch steps, a fairy blogging mama sat diligently before her fifteen inch bright LCD screen dancing with her thoughts. She paused her symphonic typing for but a moment and puffed the magic dust from her fingers with a single breath.
“How I’d love to come up with something catchy to fill the bloggers’ Friday posts.” She considered to herself out loud. “How many are in great need of something about which to blog as the restless week draws to a close and the weekend sets itself upon us. If only there were easier ways!”
She floated about the kitchen brewing a warm wisdom java. When it was ready she rested her laurels and welcomed the muse of inspiration to sit awhile and share a cup.
“I’d truly like to get something going.” She thought “Something dedicated to the mundane personal things that bloggers seem to overlook so often. For therein lie the beauty and the individuality of each. How absolutely interesting this could be.”
Now the java had begun to fill her veins and awaken the myriad of ideas which flit about her head like the rings around some astral rock. She jumped to her feet and paced to and fro skipping around the kitchen island with glee.
“I will call it FLAUNT IT FRIDAYS!” She shouted, barely able to contain her enthusiasm. “It will be all about bloggers flaunting something of their own, something which they see every day without really seeing. Something each week that they’d probably rather not see, but will, with this weekly challenge, recognize and show ostentatiously to all of the blogging wooooooooooooorld!
Now she hit the ceiling to which she had levitated in her joy and was forced back to the floor with a thump. She hoisted her blogging ass to her feet and ran back to the computer which she had abandoned but a short while before.
“How will they do this?… let me think… think…” She stared at the screen and thought. “They shall do this however they so please. By photo, by words, by poem, by a combination of them all. It matters little how, as long as it is done.” Tap, tap, tap…. She typed some more. “Each Friday I will post a FLAUNT IT FRIDAYS challenge on my own humble blog. The others will come, retrieve the challenge, compose a post on their own blog, and link back to mine. They will then return to my post and add a link to their own post there. We will all come to the list and visit the others’ Friday posts to learn more about those others’ extraordinary ordinariness. How ingenious! Wait, isn’t that called a meme? No matter. I shall name my meme FLAUNT IT FRIDAYS, and together we will flaunt!”
And such was the birth of FLAUNT IT FRIDAYS…

Thank you all for stopping by to get the scoop on Flaunt It Fridays! I apologize for being so vague or causing confusion. My creative self got the best of me on this post.
Each week I hope to post the Flaunt It Friday challenge sometime just after Midnight on Thursday. It will be a challenge for the next day and I will try to keep it simple and feasible enough that it can be done in a relatively short amount of time, Fridays being as busy as they are!
The Flaunt It Friday challenge will consist of a rather mundane but hopefully poignant theme about how the regular everyday things in life say alot about us. Each week I’ll be flaunting soemthing from my own life, sometimes by photo, sometimes by words or both, and I will ask you to do the same, in whatever form you choose. So you will be taking as long or as little a time to compose the post as per your time constraints.
The point of it all is for each one of us to (a)have an interesting Friday post, (b)have some bloggy, bloggy fun! (c)tell alittle about ourselves (d)be proud of who we are flaunting even those things we nay not always be proud of and (e)create some traffic, which is never a bad thing in the blogosphere.
I promise to try to refrain from using “betwixt” again.
No, not diaperless potty training. Just waited forever for two week old baby to poop. She didn’t. Went to get her in the bath and pow! Hubby took the picture instead of helping me clean up!
