First and foremost, let me thank all of last week’s Flaunt It Friday participants once more! Thanks to you for making it such a success, for creating such cool and diverse posts, for giving us a window into your world and for contributing to our little blogging meme community!
This week’s Flaunt It challenge promises to be a bit more universal. After all, there are so many common threads connecting us as bloggers and ultimately, as human beings. In fact, there are almost too many from which to choose. I’d liken narrowing the challenge down to trying to find a tree in the forest: utterly simple, yet so complex. Fortunately, one of the simplest commonalities brought my search for this week’s theme to a screeching halt as it knocked me upside the head with a huge and dull “DUUUUUH!” It’s all in the desk, my dears, all in the desk!
If you are reading this, then you are in and connected… to the internet, that is. As if you weren’t already aware of that! And chances are if you are connected, then you are sitting in front of a computer somewhere on God’s green earth, probably at home or at work (Hey, get back to work!) Unless, of course, you blog from your mobile, which by the way, I can’t even imagine doing! Talk about facing technical issues! So I thought, wouldn’t it be clever for this week to ask everyone to show us their “space”? Wouldn’t it be fun to peek in over the other bloggers’ shoulders and see the internet in the same frame they do? How would it feel to put ourselves in each other’s blogging shoes and soak up each other’s surroundings, the ones where each of us spend day in and day out entering and exiting the world wide web? How can we come to know each other a little better by getting to know each other’s desks?
I imagine it…there are some who have an immaculate workspace… everything is just so, everything in its own place, waiting to be picked up at the appropriate time. Others of us work buried under an absolute mess, swim in a sea of papers… etc… etc… So what does your desk/workspace look like!? Let’s have a peek! There are two primary workspaces in our home: (1) my office - which is actually our bedroom closet for the moment and a temporary situation to the best of my knowledge - and (2) a counter in our kitchen.
Here’s the office… viewer discretion advised…
I retreat to my office, the messiest place in our organized home, during “office hours” when the nanny is with the girls and when I am doing (or supposed to be doing) the administrative and bookkeeping work for my husband’s contracting business. It’s where I keep my files both business and personal and the desktop, as well as all the other paperwork that I can close behind the door and forget about whenever I like. See, I am still living up to my obsessively organized reputation. Everything still has its place … behind closed doors! Kind of like the cluttered closets… No! Don’t open that!
Here is my ultra streamlined kitchen workspace… much less of an eyesore.
The kitchen counter workspace is for the laptop which I use during my morning coffee, at lunch, and when I check email. I also like to use this space to browse other blogs while preparing dinner or when the tiny tots drag on dinner forever! I often find myself standing there and thinking, like an idiot, “Why the hell am I standing here like a flamingo surfing when I could be sitting?” I suppose it’s because I always swear that I’ll only go on line for a few minutes and end up still standing there an hour later! What a dunce! Or maybe it’s because I am too lazy to fuss with the power cord and make it over to the kitchen table. Yes, I’m pretty sure it’s the laziness!
In any case, herein lies today’s Flaunt It Friday Challenge…. drum roll please!
Show us your workspace, your place … if you dare! Send us a post from the desk of…
Also, please, invite another blogger to do the same. The more the merrier because, darn it, this is the stuff that pre-weekend fun is made of!

Love the office in a closet idea! I will post mine tomorrow afternoon. I’m too tired right now to think straight!!
That was fun! I’m looking forward to seeing other peoples work space.
This was so much fun last week.
Mind you, my space isn’t very exciting.. haha.
This one was tougher for me than the bag one (which I missed) would have been. I have a lot invested in the place where I listen to my muse. ;+)

I’m in a closet part time, too. I got tired of it looking icky a few months ago and remodeled.
Thanks again for doing this, it is fun! Looking forward to seeing that I am not the only unorganized person!
Great idea!!! Again! Love how you multitask in your home. I’m the same way…. we only have one computer right now but that’s why it’s in my living room. Can’t wait to see what everyone else shares!
Oh my goodness. Like I said on my blog, I have 3 minutes to pack for my weekend, but I cannot WAIT to get back Sunday and comment on everyone’s desks!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhh too funny!
I love your counter top! You are so neat!
Such a good idea to have a closet!
I think so. Hubby hates it… hence him already digging the foundation for the new office addition on the side of the house.
The office Flaunt it was fun. Thanks again for getting it going.
I wanted to let you know that I wrote a post recognizing my favorite blogs today, and you are in it. Here is the link.

This article explains why it’s better to stand… flamingo-like… probably core-strengthening, too!

Just had to add this link to a blog with a pic of Al Gore’s desk. I am so happy he didn’t bother to neaten it up. I think I like him better because of the piles.
