Yesterday evening, as we do every evening at bedtime, I was reading a few good books to the babes. Among the books that we happened to pull off the badly cluttered bookshelf (note to self: ask Nanny to come up with a better library system) was one from an absolutely adorable manners series about dinosaurs entitled “How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?” The Dinosaur series, by Jane Yolen, focuses on educating the children in the arena of proper and improper behavior by asking some questions about how dinosaurs behave in certain routine situations, exaggerating inappropriate behaviors and the reactions of their human parents, and later celebrating the very best behaved dinosaurs. They are so sweet and definitely worth the read for the kiddies and apparently for the adults as well. Hold on, I’m getting to that part.
As we turned page after page chuckling together at the misbehavior of the mischevious dinosaurs, the girls, who have heard this one so many times, practically read with me. As is their usual habit they spent some time on each page pointing out this or that detail of the illustrations, each paying close attention to that which caught her interest most. Oh, I was just beaming with pride and having a grand old time until…

themommykelly:(reading enthusiastically to her darlings) ”Does a dinosaur ROOOOAR?!”
Princess: (with mommy) “ROOOOOOOAR!!!!”
Drama Queen: (in unison with Mommy & Princess) “ROOOAR!!!!”
*****Uncontrollable giggling from all three *****
themommykelly: (in her silliest and highest pitched voice) “Does a dinosaur roar?”
Princess:(laughing all the way) “NO. My MOOOOMMMY does!!! Hee, hee, giggle, giggle. Ha.”
Drama Queen:“Hee, hee. Ha. Mama roar.”
*****Listen for the pin dropping here****
themommykelly: (to self) “What was mom saying just today about being patient? TURN PAGE NOW! BAD MOMMY!”

Oh god… they are totally tag teaming you! Cute senses of humor already!
That’s a great book. My sis has it. We also love I Know a Rhino! If you don’t have that one, get it.
Your reading style sounds like so much fun. Kids are great for kicking an adult’s sense of creativity!
ok. note to self: watch roaring habit.
LOL!! My two year old mimics me when I dicipline his little brother. Often i see him shaking his head and saying “UH UH Booden (his version of my youngest name) No no!” I secretly laugh around the corner!
