  It’s not too often that I spend much time mulling over the general lack of responsibility and accountability that I encounter in my day-to-day, nor often that I allow myself to be irked by people’s ignorance of common courtesy.   I've been meaning to get around to writing this post since January 1st. Amidst bouts of nausea, in-law crap, a sub-chorionic bleed in baby's placenta and doctor-ordered bed rest, it just never happened. Tuesday afternoon's visit to the hospital's maternal-fetal care unit for our level-two ultrasound was just what the doctor ordered to finally bring out this post.   Kick Me!

  Is there anything more wonderful than the first kick of your child in utero? Well, ok. Maybe not the first kick. This is my third pregnancy and still the initial stirrings leave me more with a sense of bewilderment (baby or bowels?) rather than a conscious appreciation for baby's first movements. By the fifth or sixth kick, reality sets in. It is absolutely amazing! Oh, yes, I am actually pregnant! Ha! Over the last week or so, baby has been on the move.   Some things just don't make sense. Take for example Monday Morning Messes. All week long I deal with the children on my own (Yes, we fired the nanny. Don't ask. Please, don't ask). For five and three quarters days I juggle my two-and-a-half little munchkins, the house, the business bookeeping and everything else in between. Despite it all, I still manage to keep a tidy and clean home, with the exception of the girls' room which is - thanks to one truly energy-draining pregnancy - often strewn with toys and such.   Fix It and Forget It … Not!

  Ah, bliss. Fix that wonderful comfort-food supper, pop it in the oven, set the kitchen timer to one hour and forget it... NOT! For in every corner of your home lurks the ever-curious, ever-creative, ever-intelligent preschool Princess! The engineers at the cooking appliance company certainly didn't see this clever baby coming when they designed that handy little lever at the front of the oven meant to lock it for self-cleaning!  It turns out that since my tiny trouble maker didn't push it all the way, the oven shut down to something like "warm".  No cooking.
