This week’s Flaunt It Friday comes to you from far, far away in that dreadful place between stints of my March Madness … completing the 2007 bookkeeping for Hubby General Contracting, LLC. Ugh! Unfortunately, Quickbooks is all set up on the computer in our “office” so there is little hope of reprieve, let alone breathing space for yours truly as I attend to the grueling task of getting our accounting shit together before the accountant goes apeshit and charges us a small fortune.
In the process of all that and more, I finally got around to emptying some files and filing the “Leaning Tower of Bills Paid” that had been hovering close to the laser printer for, oh, ages (ok, since June). As I forced yet another page into our home files, I wondered: what do ordinary people’s home files look like? We have a business that we run from home, so files galore is the name of our game. But even my home files are starting to look excessive to me! Now, I know that there are two or three years of personal bills in there, but still, not everyone has files like these, do they? And try as I may to engage in on-line bill pay, we have to keep paper records for seven years thanks to the good old IRS.
So this week’s challenge, let’s have a peek! Humor me. Show me what your home filing system looks like. I can’t wait to see.
