Princess Point of View: After All

06.19.08 | 5 Comments

It’s been an exhausting few weeks here at themommykelly home… and now I know why!  With the help of dear ol’ mom, I’ve managed to begin tackling the pile of baby clothes to sort and wash, put together the changing table and figured out just where Baby will be sleeping for the first few months. Somewhere in between I got a call from my OB/GYN letting me know that I am damn near anemic and should start on iron pills immediately, and oh, let me not forget the possible gestational diabetes, prelude to preeclampsia, lurking in the distance right next to the three hour glucose tolerance test that I am set to face in the next few days! Joy of joys! How each and every pregnancy is so very different.

To top off the pregnancy saga with just the right amount of drama, Hubby has been working some very late nights leaving me stranded with the darlings. Tuesay, as I lay in bed with Princess by my side (yes, were back to part-time co-sleeping again) I explained to Hubby everything I know about gestational diabetes over the phone, extra-large babies and the such. Princess listened.

themommykelly (to Hubby): “I understand that the baby can get too big with that (diabetes) since the extra sugar in the blood passes through the placenta. Yadda, yadda, yadda…..”

Princess (rolling over to look straight at me all bright-eyed and bushy tailed - something she shouldn’t be at 8:45pm*): “Well, maybe we shouldn’t have a baby after all, if she’s going to be too big!”

Yes, we here tolerate nothing less than supermodel bodies from birth for our daughters. We are planning on them supporting us in our retirement and jet-setting us about the globe on their supermodel salaries!

* I certainly have been in bed that early of late! If I’m too wiped out to write, just imagine!
