  It's been an exhausting few weeks here at themommykelly home... and now I know why!  With the help of dear ol' mom, I've managed to begin tackling the pile of baby clothes to sort and wash, put together the changing table and figured out just where Baby will be sleeping for the first few months.   Last Friday, being the nut that I am, I took the girls along to run some errands. $200.00 for new rocker-glider cushions? I think not. $15.00 at the nearest fabric retailer and a few hours of elbow grease? Hell yes. So off to UPS and Walmart it was, Mama and the ducklings in tow.   For some time now our girls have known that we are having another baby and they have shared in our excitement.  They’ve showered kisses and caresses upon my bulging belly and ventured enthusiastic guesses as to the baby’s gender.   We arrived home at almost 9pm after having enjoyed an absolutely smashing family day at the Mystic Aquarium this Sunday past.   I can't catch a break. Saturday evening I totally forgot to lock the bathroom door while preparing what was supposed to be a relaxing bath.  Several minutes into my relax, Drama Queen busts in, kneels by the tub and begins to question me.  Invasive, yet adorable, I didn't put up much of a fight to have her leave.   Sunday. March 16th. Palm Sunday. The start of Holy Week for the Catholic World. The Priest dresses in Red in rememberance of Christ's sufferings. The Church statuary is hidden by purple coverings so as not to distract from our focus on the mystery of Christ's Passion and Death. Long Mass. Two very distracted little girls.   Fix It and Forget It … Not!

  Ah, bliss. Fix that wonderful comfort-food supper, pop it in the oven, set the kitchen timer to one hour and forget it... NOT! For in every corner of your home lurks the ever-curious, ever-creative, ever-intelligent preschool Princess! The engineers at the cooking appliance company certainly didn't see this clever baby coming when they designed that handy little lever at the front of the oven meant to lock it for self-cleaning!  It turns out that since my tiny trouble maker didn't push it all the way, the oven shut down to something like "warm".  No cooking.   Princess Point Of View: Getting All Philosophical on Mama

  I just now popped into the girls’ huge mess of a bedroom (product of Hubby’s “hands off” Sunday parenting approach) to see just what might be happening in all the “silence.”  Fortunately, since the room is already such a disaster, I can happily report that they were not getting into trouble, but enjoying a bit of playtime bliss. Drama Queen was propped comfortably upon her sister’s bed doodling away on her miniature doodle pad.  Princess was sitting in another corner of the room somewhere square in the middle of the piles of toys, attempting to dress Eyeore in Barbie’s Halloween ...
