  I love how much my children love me. The depth of their affection is truly touching, even at 3:24 am.   That’s what time Drama Queen and Princess began last night’s barroom, I mean, dedbroom, I mean bedroom brawl. Yes. 3.2.4.A.M.! The scenario is typical.  Drama Queen, sufficiently sobered up from her nighttime shake of organic milk and Ovaltine, decides that she is going to squeeze her cutie little pamper-garbed-culotto in right between her older sister and Mama. Apparently, I’m a hot commodity at the moment, since “I want MY Mama” is constantly on her lips even in this half-slumbering state. ...

  I’m Just Curious…

  I'm just curious... does your child do things like this? In a moment of mommy distraction (okay, make that ten minutes of mommytime) quietly sneak into the refrigerator and steal food, say like a pound of fresh strawberries? And, if your child does do something like that, does she then sneak those strawberries into her "kitchen" in her playroom and proceed to patiently, yet speedily, deleaf the delicate fruit piece by piece and sprinkle the leaves over the entirety of the off-white area rug? Really? And does your child then go so far to as to sit in the middle of her "kitchen", carefully mulling over ...

  I can't catch a break. Saturday evening I totally forgot to lock the bathroom door while preparing what was supposed to be a relaxing bath.  Several minutes into my relax, Drama Queen busts in, kneels by the tub and begins to question me.  Invasive, yet adorable, I didn't put up much of a fight to have her leave. She seemed perfectly happy to chill a bit and respect the quiet. Several minutes later, Princess busts in, wiggles over tubside in her little lavender carter's, looks me up and down and giggles.   As we rung in the New Year with a day of complete and utter laziness, ordering out for supper on the First was an absolute must.  Since the girls had eaten but a short time before our favorite Thai delivery guy rang the bell, Hubby and I dug in, certain that the rug rats were quite full.   I just finished reviewing and posting the "No One" post.  Since I like the song, I tested the link at full blast, several times!  Done posting, I went into the other room where my kids are enjoying a few Noggin shows to grab my traveldrive  Drama Queen (smiling hugely): "Wubzie!" (some show they're watching) Princess: "Mama, was that the worker guys singing the No One song?" See. What did I tell you?! And you thought I make this stuff up!

  Last Friday we had the pleasure of a night out to dinner with a great friend at a fabulous new Stamford restaurant named DUO.  Earlier in the day, as I rummaged through Hubby's closet pulling out some clothes for our dinner date (the man would be totally unpresentable otherwise - I'm Italian and vain like that) Princess stood in the hallway observing my every move. themommykelly: "Oh my!   Yesterday evening, as we do every evening at bedtime, I was reading a few good books to the babes.  Among the books that we happened to pull off the badly cluttered bookshelf (note to self: ask Nanny to come up with a better library system) was one from an absolutely adorable manners series about dinosaurs entitled "How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?" The Dinosaur series, by Jane Yolen, focuses on educating the children in the arena of proper and improper behavior by asking some questions about how dinosaurs behave in certain routine situations, exaggerating inappropriate behaviors and the reactions of their human parents, and later celebrating ...

  You are going to just love this one... themommykelly: (once again trying to force feed the Drama Queen meat) “Come on, Sweet Pea, have some num, num. It’s yummy!” Drama Queen: (standing in a chair at the table, laughing in my face) Ha! No! themommykelly: “It’s sooooo good, baby. Look. Mommy is eating it. Ummmm!” Drama Queen: (now half-lying on the table to avoid the spoon) “No dooooooown’t!” themommykelly: “Come on, Sweet Pea. Let’s eat dinner.
